Notting Hill Carnival

Saturday October 4, 2008

The Notting Hill Carnival began in January 1959 at St Pancras Town Hall as a response to the depressing state of race relations at the time in Britain. In 1965 it was moved outside and the date changed to a more climate friendly August bank holiday. Today the event is one of the largest street festivals in the World. I attended the final day of the Notting Hill Carnival which tends to be the busiest as that is day of the main parade.
